Inner Child Healing

The tapestry of my practice

The tapestry of my practice is woven of the following modalities:

Inner child healing

Inner child therapy is a body-based approach to healing early emotional wounds. In a warm, safe, and nourishing space, we explore unresolved childhood experiences that felt overwhelming — too much, too fast, too soon, or too little for too long (as described by Jo Miller). When these moments aren’t fully processed, they can remain frozen in the body, creating stagnation and shaping our present through protective patterns. Through visualisations and embodied practices, we engage in a dialogue with the body — the part of us that holds the memory of conflict and also the wisdom for resolution. By meeting these younger parts with compassion, we support healing, integration, and a return to wholeness

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Technique

In EFT we utilise meridian channels based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine. This is a body-based practice that helps release stuck emotional energy by tapping on specific acupressure points. We curiously shine light on emotions, beliefs, and memories that may have been cast out into the shadows. As we tap, we give the nervous system a chance to reprocess and let go of old pain, fear, tension — helping you feel lighter and more present in your body.

I like to visualise the tapping, as gentle knocking on the door to the subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind stores heaviness we couldn’t confront or address in the past: transgressions, violations, neglect, overstepping, injustice, offences, abuse, pain. We are knocking on this door to let our subconscious know: “I have returned to melt away my hurt that remains frozen in time”

Matrix Reimprinting

Matrix Reimprinting is an advanced form of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) that works with past memories stored in the body and subconscious mind. In this approach, we connect with the younger parts of you that are still holding the emotional charge of past experiences. Rather than simply tapping on the feelings, we enter the “matrix”, the energetic terrain of the memory itself, offering your younger self what they needed at the time: safety, validation, support, or protection. Through guided visualisation, tapping, and compassionate dialogue, we transform how the memory is held in the body and mind — allowing deep emotional shifts, release of limiting beliefs, and a greater sense of peace and self-empowerment.

Bioenergetic analysis

Exercises devised by Alexander Lowen help melt ways of armouring at the level of the body’s nervous system, musculature and organs. Bioenergetic analysis offers the use of movement, sound, breath, and grounding exercises to gently activate and express what’s been held inside. This process supports the release of suppressed emotions, restores the natural flow of energy, and helps you feel more alive, present, and connected to your body. As we free the body, we begin to reclaim parts of ourselves that were once shut down for protection.

Focalizing

Focalizing beautifully complements all aforementioned modalities. Due to unresolved trauma, we may continually be triggered by our present moment re-entering the originally activated “fight or flight” response. If we are running a program of searching for a tiger(a predator), we will see a tiger in everyone. We will perceive the world as dangerous. We can offer resolution to the versions of us that faced a perceived life threats from the perspective of a resourced and empowered adult.

Then there comes a moment, when the past no longer calls. We can turn to the present moment. We plant new nourishing seeds in the here and the now. We can begin to curate a new way of being, cultivate and water new habits. Focalizing offers conditions to develop deep respect and genuine curiosity towards our system, just the way it is. Without trying to change anything we sit alongside our direct experience. Curious, welcoming — just like we would be with a good friend. And through the sheer act of offering loving attention, things within begin to stir and shift.

Other helpful threads in the fabric of my practice:

My own recovery from codependency

The process of reviving my own needs and rebuilding my sense of self-worth. Having had grown up around sick, disturbed, troubled adults my own needs were overlooked and neglected. As children we are fully dependant, therefore we are deeply enmeshed and often assume roles within the family system to elevate or improve the wellbeing of the entire unit. Often it is done to our own detriment. Healing lays in understanding that these strategies have outgrown their usefulness.

Breath work

Bringing understanding of the nervous system regulation into my practice. Trauma compromises the ability to regulate emotions, disrupts autonomic functions such as breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, digestion and sleep. When I come to a place where I no longer know the direction, my breath reminds me the way back to my equilibrium, to my inner home.

Ecstatic dance and 5 Rhythms

A way of releasing tension accumulated in the body and unfreezing emotional currents that have been stuck, stagnant and suppressed. A way of reclaiming the freedom and shedding layers of protection that kept free-spirited and unbounded expression at bay, as it was threatening to those bound and inhibited around me. A place to be witnessed while releasing the restraining shackles of integrated self-doubt, fear and shame.

Yoga teaching

A treasure trove for cultivating resources, which are a source of support, empowerment and nourishment. Healing can be tiring and replenishing and fostering reserves of energy is crucial. Creating new cell memory of stillness, quietude and peace to summon when the tide of my day to day rises.
